"I've always had a pencil in my hand, it seems."
My earliest chilhood memories involve being very happy and content while drawing and sketching.
Growing up, my art was recognised with various awards through grade shool, although I have no formal art training. (other than a degree in Commercial art from the Nj Vocational/ Technical School system, and some odd courses at a community college) I dropped away from art in my teen years, worked briefly in the Art Dept. of the Asbury Park Press in my eary 20's, only to return to the business of art in my late 20's. Working in the creative finish / interior decoration business led me to a commision, by a client, for a piece of my fine art, and once restarted in paintng, I've not stopped since that time.
I've never painted for the sole sake of sale and mostly painted for release and
creativity. My art is deeply personal and yet deals with universally recognised
emotions, feelings, human qualities, and frailties. My art is often thought provoking, involving the viewer, provoking, and evoking a response. It ranges from emotional abstraction to Pop Art attraction. It more matches your mind, than your couch!
Diverse artsits such as DaVinci, Michelangelo, O'keefe, Kahlo, Dali,
Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol, and Roosevelt's own Jacob Landau inspired me.
I enjoy working mostly with acrylics on canvas, occassionally mixing media, and also enjoy the challenges of sculpture, graphics, stencils, and prints. I have been lucky to have had a great deal of interest in my work, many admirers,
benefactors, and have quite a number of works in privately held collections.
